WHAT IS A CONCUSSION?
¬ Concussion is a brain injury caused by a bump or blow to the head
¬ Can change the way the brain normally works
¬ Range is mild to severe but ALL are serious
¬ You can be knocked out or just have headaches and confusion
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
¬ Nausea
¬ Dizziness
¬ Fuzzy vision
¬ Sensitivity to light or noise
¬ Headache
¬ Feeling sluggish
¬ Concentration problems
¬ Feeling foggy or tired
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS (coaches and parents should look for these)
¬ Dazed
¬ Confused or forgets plays
¬ Unsure of game, score or opponent
¬ Answers slowly
¬ Can’t recall events prior to or after event
¬ Behavior changes
WHEN CAN I RETURN TO PLAY?
¬ You must be cleared by a doctor
¬ All your symptoms must be gone
